American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift PCU position on a high-acuity oncology telemetry unit with a focus on infection prevention and falls.
Job Details
• Work in a PCU/medical oncology unit with progressive care beds in a hospital setting,
• High acuity oncology population with some med surg and rare pediatric oncology patients,
• Unit has 36 beds, over 24 dedicated to PCU level of care,
• Uses B450 monitors (GE telemetry), Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, bladder scanner, continuous bladder irrigation, and PCA pumps,
• Self-scheduling with night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00 - 7:30),
• First week of orientation is dayshift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit preceptor orientation,
• Expected nurse to patient ratios: 1:4-5 for Med Surg Telemetry, 1:3 for PCU,
• Floating required to units of equal or lower acuity,
• Variable weekend shift requirements,
Job Requirements
• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration,
• Completion of nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program,
• At least 2 years of high acuity PCU patient experience required,
• Certifications required: BCLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale,
• Strong infection prevention and patient falls management skills,
• Demonstrated ability with dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response, feeding tube care, port access, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, starting IVs, heparin protocols, and cardiac drips management,
• Experience with a variety of respiratory devices including external CPAP/BIPAP and high flow nasal cannula,
• First time travelers will be considered; previous travel experience preferred,
• Two professional references required, at least one must be from a manager, director, or formal leader,

• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting as soon as possible after contract signing,
• Former employees may be eligible if they have not worked at the facility for 6 months or more,
• Current employees of the specified health system are ineligible to work as a traveler,
• Locals are accepted at the same pay rate,
• RTO (requested time off) must be built into the contract,
• Holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs,
• Scrub color requirements are not specified,
• Emphasis on teamwork, preceptor-guided orientation, and flexible scheduling,
• Some preferred skills include management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, chemotherapy administration, wound care, and non-invasive airway management,
