American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg Tele position on a medical oncology unit, requiring an OH or compact RN license and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Job Details
• Assignment is on a Med/Surg Tele unit within an oncology-focused setting,
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with various types of solid tumor cancers and general med/surg issues,
• Common cases involve breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancer, as well as patients undergoing antineoplastic chemotherapy,
• Patient ratios target 1:4 but may be up to 1:5,
• Heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall reduction,
• Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30); some day/night options may be available,
• Self-scheduling with requests considered before final schedule is posted,
• No set or blocked scheduling available,
• Floating is required to other Med/Surg Oncology units as needed,
• Uses Epic EMR for computerized charting,
Job Requirements
• Active OH or compact RN license at time of consideration,
• Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg Tele nursing experience required,
• BLS certification required,
• Telemetry interpretation and telemetry monitoring skills required,
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program,
• Two professional references required, with at least one from leadership,
• Previous travel nursing experience is preferred, but not required,
• ONS Chemo certification preferred,
Additional Information
• Care for oncology patients at all stages, from new diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life care,
• First week of orientation is Monday through Friday day shift; second week includes on-unit orientation with a preceptor,
• Focus on infection prevention and patient safety,
• Dress code requires professional scrubs,
• Holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs,
• All RTO (requested time off) must be submitted with initial application,
• Former employees may apply if separated from facility for 6 months or more,
• Locals within driving distance to Ohio are accepted at the same rate as travelers,
• All candidates must comply promptly with fingerprinting requirements prior to starting assignment,
• Current employees of the health system are not eligible for traveler positions at this location,
