Position Summary:
The ED Educator will play a key role in supporting the operational and educational needs of the Emergency Department. This position works closely with nursing leadership to coordinate staff education, assist with clinical governance activities, and provide administrative support to ensure efficient department functioning and high-quality patient care and meeting the designated nursing quality outcomes
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree (BSN) in Nursing required.
Master's degree in nursing, preferred, and or evidence of plan of study to be in place within one year of hire.
Experience
Minimum 5 years ED experience required.
Experience in nursing professional development preferred.
Experience as nurse preceptor, charge nurse or other informal/formal ED leadership required.
Three years of experience in planning, implementing and evaluating education programs in the nursing field.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Current South Carolina (or compact state) licensure as RN (SCLLR) in good standing required.
Certification BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC required.
Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) preferred.
Certification in Nursing Professional Development required or obtained within two years from date of hire.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Design and deliver orientation programs for new ED staff.
Develop and facilitate ongoing clinical education, skills labs and assessments.
Coordinate mandatory training and certifications.
Provide just-in-time training and support for new equipment, procedures, and protocols.
Collaborate with ED leadership to identify educational needs based on performance metrics, incident reports and quality improvement initiatives.
Support initiatives to improve patient safety, throughput and satisfaction.
Maintain accurate records of staff education, competencies and certifications.
Participate in committees and task forces related to emergency services.
Analyzing tracking and managing data
Assist with audits, incident reviews and quality improvement initiatives
Support data collection and reporting for accreditation, safety and performance metrics
Provide administrative support to ED leadership, including scheduling, meeting coordination and documentation.
Maintaining policy and procedures
Updating share reports
Work effectively and collaboratively with coworkers, nursing colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
Consistently display effective verbal communication skills.
Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
Regularly exercise independent judgement in emergency situations.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

Complete other tasks as assigned.
Ability to jump in and lend a hand to staff on the floor at busy times.
