The Role – Pastry Commis Chef
We are seeking a dedicated Pastry Commis Chef to join the pastry team. Working under experienced senior chefs, you will assist in the preparation and execution of high-quality desserts, pastries, breads, and afternoon tea items for both the restaurant and the hotel’s wider offering.
This role is ideal for someone early in their pastry career, or a Commis Chef looking to specialise in the pastry section.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation of pastry items, desserts, breads, cakes and afternoon tea components
Support the Pastry Chef and senior team in day-to-day mise en place
Maintain high levels of organisation, cleanliness and stock rotation
Follow recipes precisely to ensure consistency across all pastry products
Learn new techniques and contribute to a smooth, well-run pastry section
Uphold strict standards of food safety, allergen control and hygiene
Support service periods as required, including plating and finishing desserts
About You
Some experience in a professional kitchen (pastry experience desirable but not essential)
Genuine passion for pastry, desserts and baking
Keen to learn, develop and progress within a structured, supportive team
Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation
Calm, reliable, and committed to high standards
A positive team player with a proactive, can-do attitude
