What You Will Do:
Review shop drawings and other documentation to determine compliance of fabrication of steel girders and other bridge components
Inspect welds, bolt holes, and other connections of steel members
Inspect protective coatings
Work with others to determine resolution of failed inspections and subsequently reinspect failed components
Apply ODOT specifications and supplemental specifications
Conduct quality control inspections of facilities and processes for fabrication and coatings
Travel with State vehicle within Ohio and other states

The selection process for this position will include a structured interview. Candidate responses to the interview questions will be scored and the selection will be made in accordance with the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.
This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.
If this position is filled internally, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the contract

5 yrs. engineering related technical experience in simple construction/ rehabilitation/maintenance projects or planning & design of simple civil engineering projects or materials testing, with experience to be commensurate with position to be filled. Note\: the official position description on file with the Ohio Department Of Administrative Services is to reflect, in the minimum acceptable characteristics, the required technical experience. -Or completion of associate degree program in engineering technology; 3 yrs. engineering related technical experience in simple construction/ rehabilitation/maintenance projects or planning & design of simple civil engineering projects or materials testing, with experience to be commensurate with position to be filled.
-Or 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Technical Specialist, 85871, with experience to be commensurate with position to be filled.
-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
