Position Summary The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all daily warehouse operations, including labor planning, material flow, and product output.
This position provides leadership, direction, and support to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and team performance across assigned areas.
The Warehouse Supervisor manages and develops warehouse associates, ensures compliance with company policies, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to meet production, quality, and service goals.
During non-peak periods, this position may assist with production activities, serve as a backup shuttle driver, or support operations at the Obetz facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Supervise, plan, and coordinate daily warehouse operations for teams of 20-50 employees * Lead and support warehouse drivers, freezer pickers, and material handlers in all functional areas * Manage workflow and staffing to meet daily production and shipping goals * Oversee refrigerated and freezer operations, ensuring safety and quality standards are met * Train, coach, and develop employees to achieve productivity and accuracy targets * Conduct daily start-up and shift handoff meetings; communicate goals and performance expectations * Monitor labor performance through WMS and reporting tools; identify and address performance gaps * Ensure compliance with all company, safety, and SQF policies and procedures * Maintain a clean, organized, and "tour ready" warehouse environment at all times * Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, Transportation, Maintenance, HR) to resolve issues and improve processes * Promote a positive work culture through professional communication, fairness, and respect * Support new hire onboarding, skills development, and succession planning * Participate in continuous improvement projects to drive efficiency and cost savings * Provide operational updates and recommendations to management regarding labor needs and workflow improvements * Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting other departments during non-peak periods Education and Experience * High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred * 3-5 years of warehouse, distribution, or logistics experience required * 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a warehouse environment preferred * Valid Driver's License required * Experience working in multi-temperature warehouse environments (-10 F to 40 F) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Leadership: Ability to coach, motivate, and develop diverse teams to meet department goals * Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization * Problem Solving: Skilled at identifying root causes, making data-driven decisions, and implementing corrective actions * Time Management: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced setting * Safety Awareness: Comprehensive understanding of OSHA, SQF, and warehouse safety standards * Technical Skills: Experience with WMS systems; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; SAP, Oracle, or BAAN experience preferred * Continuous Improvement: Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and implement operational enhancements Physical Demands and Work Environment * Ability to work continuously or occasionally in cold storage environments (-10 F to 40 F) * Lift up to 30 lbs.
