Description
Job Summary:
Performs secretarial duties within the lab under the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Technologist and/or assistant Chief Medical Technologist.
Job Responsibilities:
Collect and label specimens using proper techniques.
Make out appropriate lab requisitions for admissions brought to the lab.
Charge patients for lab procedures.
Distribute specimens to proper area of lab.
File lab copies of reports.
Record specimens sent to reference labs.
Pick up mail for department.
Distribute appropriate paper flow to various departments on timely basis.
Batch charge slips for lab and take to data process
Answer the telephone and direct calls to the proper person.
Requisition supplies from Central Supply and put supplies in proper place.
Clean desk and phone daily with 10% Clorox before leaving.
Schedule urine drug screens and paternity testing and collects specimens needed for procedures.
Checks all invoices and turns in to Annette Foster.
Performs any additional duties that the Laboratory Manager or Administration assigns.
Requirements
Licensure Requirements:
High school diploma is required
On the job training
Physical Requirements:
Able to tolerate long periods of standing and walking.
High stress.
Must be in good health.
Experience Requirements:
Must have a thorough knowledge of secretarial procedures.
