Job Title: Senior Life Pastor

Reports To: Senior Director of Adult Ministry

Department: Senior Life

FLSA: Exempt (Salaried), Part-time, 20 hrs. per week

Job Summary & Goal

The Senior Life Pastor will provide pastoral leadership and direction to adults ages 55 and above. This role will oversee the Thursday Senior Gathering, build a culture of spiritual growth, fellowship, and care among seniors, and give intentional focus to reaching and connecting younger seniors (ages 55-70) who are not yet engaged in the ministry. This is a part-time pastoral position (15-20 hours per week) with a focus on shepherding, outreach, and ministry development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Thursday Senior Life Gatherings

Provide pastoral leadership and oversight for the weekly Thursday gathering.

Develop meaningful worship, teaching, and fellowship experiences.

Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to serve within the gathering.

Pastoral Care & Discipleship

Shepherd seniors (ages 55-100) through encouragement, prayer, and care ministry.

Offer pastoral counseling, spiritual guidance, and encouragement as needed.

Help foster intergenerational relationships where older adults can mentor and disciple young adults.

Outreach & Connection

Develop and implement strategies to connect with younger seniors (55-70) who are not currently engaged.

Create pathways for new seniors to connect with the ministry and the broader church body.

Partner with other ministries to ensure seniors are actively connected to the mission of the church.

Leadership & Administration

Provide vision and direction for the Senior Life Ministry Team.

Organize events, trips, and opportunities for fellowship and service.

Maintain a part-time schedule (15-20 hours weekly) with flexibility to attend ministry events outside of Thursday gatherings when needed.

EXPECTATIONS:

Work collaboratively with Senior Life Team and church leadership and staff.

Serve as an advocate for senior adults within the broader church body.

Attend one on one every Mondays with Adult Ministries Pastor.

Attend monthly Adult Ministries Team meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A mature follower of Jesus Christ with a deep love for God and His Word.

Demonstrated pastoral and shepherding gifts, particularly with older adults.

Experience in pastoral ministry, preferably with senior adults.

Strong communication and teaching/preaching ability.

Relational, compassionate, and approachable personality with a heart for pastoral care.

Ability to equip and mobilize volunteers for ministry.

Organized, dependable, and able to balance part-time schedule effectively.
