Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Telehandler Operator to support our roadway and bridge construction project in Golden Meadow, LA. The ideal candidate will operate a telescopic forklift (telehandler) to move, lift, and place materials across various terrain and elevation levels, ensuring efficient and safe handling of construction components such as rebar, formwork, concrete barriers, and structural steel. Telehandler experience is required to be considered for this role.
General Requirements:
Operate telehandler equipment to transport and position materials at designated locations on the job site.
Assist in loading and unloading construction materials including bridge decking, precast components, and traffic control devices.
Navigate uneven terrain and confined spaces typical of bridge and roadway construction zones.
Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance checks to ensure safe operation.
Coordinate with site supervisors, riggers, and other trades to support lifting plans and material staging.
Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage and report any mechanical issues promptly.
Comply with all site safety protocols, traffic control measures, and OSHA regulations.
Support general labor tasks when equipment is not in use, including site cleanup and material organization.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience operating telehandlers in heavy civil or bridge construction environments.
Familiarity with rigging practices and load charts.
Ability to read and interpret site plans and lifting diagrams.
Strong understanding of safety procedures and hazard recognition.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to climb ladders, and work from stationary platforms from elevated heights.
Must be able to hear and distinguish emergency signals and instructions while on duty.
Must be able to repetitively sit, lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach and crawl.
Must be able to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must be able to work in all outdoor elements for extended periods of time.
Must be capable of working extended hours and variable shifts.
