Position Summary Information
Responsibilities
Leads the development and implementation of Delta State University's comprehensive communications and marketing strategies to advance the institution's visibility, enrollment, fundraising, and reputation goals.
Collaborates across divisions to ensure cohesive and effective marketing efforts that strengthen awareness, community engagement, and institutional pride across all audiences.
Champions Delta State's brand identity by creating, refining, and enforcing core messaging, visual standards, and marketing communications that consistently reflect the University's mission and values.
Directs and oversees the work of marketing and creative staff, ensuring the delivery of timely, high-quality materials across print, digital, and social media channels.
Manages advertising, media placement, and creative partnerships to maximize reach, return on investment, and message consistency.
Serves as the University's lead marketing strategist and spokesperson on brand positioning, advertising, and visual identity matters.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or brand management.
Comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of a rural regional university, including networking, marketing, motivation of students, human capital, and resource development.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic marketing plans that strengthen institutional visibility and reputation.
Proven success managing digital marketing, advertising, social media, and creative content campaigns.
Demonstrated track record of successfully managing employees, fostering teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage up to 20 projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting all deadlines.
Strong project management skills with experience managing budgets, timelines, and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate messages.
Creative, collaborative leader with strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and a commitment to excellence.

Salary
Commensurate with experience, qualifications, and university's resources.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, or brand management.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects (up to 20 simultaneously) and consistently meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
Proven success developing and implementing marketing strategies that strengthen organizational visibility and engagement.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Demonstrated track record of supervising employees, managing teams, or coordinating cross-departmental initiatives.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders, exercising sound judgment, creativity, and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in higher education or a similarly complex organization with multiple stakeholder groups.
Experience supervising creative and marketing staff or managing cross-functional teams.
Proven project management expertise, with a demonstrated history of delivering complex campaigns and initiatives on time and within scope.
Familiarity with current marketing analytics tools, CRM systems, and digital advertising platforms.
Knowledge of regional demographics, workforce needs, and communication strategies effective in the Mississippi Delta and surrounding areas.
