Summary
Supervise and coordinate activities of a limited number of custodians engaged in cleaning and maintaining facilities. Perform cleaning tasks as needed.
Essential Job Functions
Oversee a staff of custodians responsible for cleaning an assigned property. Conduct regular inspections to monitor the cleanliness of the facility.
Clean general office and common areas: entrance glass and doors, water fountains, elevators, stairwells, and furniture.
Clean floors using dust mops, wet mops, and vacuum cleaners. Strip and wax floors as needed.
Disinfect and clean restrooms, including all equipment and fixtures. Refill paper towels, toilet paper, and soap. Ancillary Job Functions
Train new employees and report progress to supervisor. Provide input on performance evaluations and make recommendations on hiring and dismissals.
Respond to requests from facility building manager to conduct various maintenance and clean-up activities.
Ensure cleaning rags have been laundered and available for daily use.
Empty trash cans and change liners.
Operate machines such as floor buffers, floor scrubbers and carpet cleaners as needed.
Utilize all available cleaning tools and products to ensure a well-kept environment.
Perform other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One to three years of experience in housekeeping or custodial work required; supervisory or leadership role helpful. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
Ability to operate cleaning machines and equipment.
Clear verbal communication skills and ability to give and follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions.
Ability to use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in difficult or stressful situations. Work Environment - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
Exposed to moderate noise levels.
Exposed to potentially hazardous bodily fluids or chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles. Physical Abilities that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
