SMP is looking for a Sr. MES Engineer, the candidate will be responsible to provide MES support for manufacturing operations that run on the shop floor, project coordination and MES team member project assignments.
Duties and Responsibilities
MES System monitoring, troubleshooting, problem resolution and implementation
MES Programming - make changes to or create required steps or logic within the MES programs
MES support - configuration of printers, scanners (PPC), PBL controllers and carts, part labels, MES Configure and troubleshoot barcode scanners
Basic level network troubleshooting
Track and control MES devices and their configurations
As an IT support- should be able to troubleshoot other systems that are integrated with MES (such as JIS sequence system, Paintshop system, SAP, AIB, HMI etc.)
Take new MES requirements / changes from operations team:
Translate it into technical specifications
Creating work instructions
SQL database maintenance and functionality
Making required changes to MES program
Review and test the change with production team and 3rd party support
Plan for rollout
Write Work instructions and train operations team
This position will function as the dedicated Sub-Project Manager working with the PM team to plan and coordinate for all projects.
MES Team coordination - Assign projects to MES Engineers, support the MES Engineers for projects from Assignment to Implementation.
Communicate with IT Manager regularly regarding status of requested, active and upcoming MES projects Availability
Flexible schedule and sense of urgency to support escalations that affect business operations and client services
Available after hours and weekends as needed and willing to work on-call rotation Additional Requirements

This position may require some local, national, and occasional international travel
Kepware software programming (nice to have but not required)
Basic understanding of PLC communication Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
7+ years of experience as MES Engineer
Working knowledge of technologies such as Microsoft Excel and Database (MSSQL)
Strong ability to diagnose alerts, events or issues
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience with C# & Angular (nice to have but not required)
