About this position

Effective deployment of North Memorial Ambulance resources that maximizes response times while efficiently utilizing a minimum number of units. The EMD triages transportation requests, strategically positions resources, recommends effective routes while correctly interpreting computer aided dispatch recommendations. The EMD will also be required to triage incoming calls and provide pre-arrival instructions to callers when appropriate

Requirements

Education

• High school graduate or equivalent (GED)

• Medical terminology course work or equivalent preferred

Experience

• Must meet a minimum of one requirement below:

• 6 months experience as a Telecommunicator at North Memorial Health Ambulance Communication Center OR

• 1 year experience as a Dispatcher/ EMD/Telecommunicator in a Police, Fire or EMS Communications Center

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Requires the ability to multi-task, problem solve, make effective decisions under pressure, work independently and in a team atmosphere.

• Requires the ability to work effectively with other hospitals' staff, public service agencies, peers, co-workers and the general public.

Licensure/Certification

Current certification as an EMD through Medical Priority Dispatch or be able to meet this requirement within 6 months of the date of hire (BLS Certification is incorporated into the EMD Certification) - NMHC Standard

Hours per two week pay period: 80

Shift: Day/Evening/Night 8 & 12 hours

Weekend Requirement: Weekends by Department Rotation

Call Requirement: None

Benefit Eligibility: Health insurance benefits are available for this position. North Memorial Health offers multiple health plans based on work group eligibility.

Salary Range: 113 Service Workers 23 ($27.87 - $43.17), based on experience

Shift Differential: Compensation may include shift differential pay depending on the position and shift worked.
