Job Description
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with developmental disabilities. This role helps clients achieve greater independence and quality of life by assisting with daily living activities, community involvement, personal care, and skill development.
Key Responsibilities:
Support individuals with daily living tasks such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and housekeeping.
Encourage and assist clients in achieving their personal goals and maintaining independence.
Implement individualized service plans (ISPs) and track progress toward goals.
Provide transportation and accompany individuals to appointments, recreational activities, or community events.
Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
Accurately complete documentation, progress notes, and incident reports as required.
Assist in teaching life skills such as budgeting, cooking, social interaction, and communication.
Administer medications (if certified and authorized).
Communicate effectively with families, supervisors, and other team members to ensure quality care.
Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to pass background checks and required training (CPR, First Aid, Medication Assistance, etc.). We provide/Train for these.
Compassionate, patient, and dependable personality.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment:
In-home, community-based, or day program settings.
May involve lifting, bending, or assisting with mobility.
Variable shifts, including evenings, weekends, or overnights, depending on program needs.
