The Opportunity

Firefly Agency a fast-growing, tech-driven insurance network is looking for a data-savvy problem solver to join our Operations team.

In this role, youll take ownership of one of Fireflys most important promises: making sure our agents get paid accurately and on time. But were not just looking for someone to follow our process were looking for someone who can make it better.

This is a technical, process-focused position, ideal for someone with a strong foundation in data, automation, or computer science whether youve gained it through professional experience or a degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Database Management, Accounting, or a related field.

If you love improving workflows, automating tasks, and using tools like Excel, Power Automate, or SQL to make systems smarter, this is your opportunity to shape how Firefly operates.

Youdont need to come from the insurance industry well teach you that. What matters most is your technical expertise and your curiosity to modernize how work gets done.

Youll learn directly from our current Commission Specialist, who has led this work for 20 years and will retire in 2026. During that time, youll master commission processing while also helping us streamline and advance the way we work.

This is awork-from-home position. Our team operates fully remote but stays connected through daily collaboration and quarterly in-person gatherings in Columbus, Ohio.

What Youll Do

This role combines hands-on operational work with creative process improvement. Youll

maintain the systems that make Firefly run and help design the next generation of automation that will make them even better.

Commission Responsibilities (thatyoull learn, master, and modernize):

Collect monthly commission statements from insurance carriers and ensure accurate reconciliation in our Agency Management System (EZLynx).

Match commissions to the correct agents and generate payout reports.

Schedule ACH deposits to agents and answer questions about commission statements.

Match monthly agency costs (such as MVR charges) with our agent offices to ensure accurate cost pass-through.

Reconcile monthly carrier deposits with statement totals.

Oversee sweep payments premiums collected by agents that must be electronically transferred to carriers.

Transfer funds between multiple accounts to ensure accuracy.

Innovation & Automation Process Improvement Responsibilities:

Use your Excel and database expertise to improve accuracy, speed, and efficiency in monthly commission processing.

Automate and optimize recurring tasks with tools like Power Automate, Power Query, and Azure Data Factory.

Build, test, and document streamlined workflows that reduce manual effort and improve data visibility.

Help maintain and expand integrations between EZLynx, Power Platform, SQL, and other business systems.

Partner with teammates to identify data bottlenecks and design tech-based solutions that make our systems work smarter.

Must Haves:

Background in computer science, database management, data operations,

or process automation.

Strong Excel skills, including complex formulas and Power Query.

Familiarity with SQL database management able to understand, organize, and work with interrelated data tables, stored procedures, and queries.

Experience or interest in automation tools like Power Automate, Power Apps, or Azure Data Factory.

High comfort level with data and digital platforms, and the creativity to use them to solve real problems.

Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable with numbers.

Excellent communication skills for collaborating with both technical and non-technical teammates.

Nice to Have:

Familiarity with insurance industry insurance company or insurance agency operations.

Basic understanding of financial reconciliation or accounting workflows.
