Information Technologist 3 (IT3) Position Overview

The Information Technologist 3 (IT3) is the first line of defense for our agency's technology users. In this role, you will provide technical support to employees and answer their questions about software, hardware, and network issues. You'll be the go-to person for resolving everyday technical problems and ensuring everyone has the resources they need to stay productive.

Information Technologist 3 Duties:

• Answering the telephone and responding to emails received for the IT help desk

• Create and maintain engaging training videos and job aids by collaborating with subject matter experts to simplify complex processes and ensure up-to-date, accessible learning materials for staff.

• Assisting customers who have issues with their hardware, software, desk phone, cellular phone, printers, fax

• Provides support for assistive technology equipment and software

• Troubleshooting with customers to determine the nature of and resolution for reported issues

• Assisting with IT equipment deployment

• Updating and repairing IT hardware and software

• Assisting with business process analysis

• Creates and updates technical documentation as needed

• Monitoring and assisting users with third party IT supported devices

A Successful Information Technologist 3 Has:

• Ability to deliver excellent customer service

• Intermediate knowledge of personal computers and peripheral operating systems (System Center Configuration Manager, end point security software and Microsoft Office 365)

• Ability to effectively utilize basic level local area and wide area networking concepts, Information Technology Infrastructure Library, remote imaging of machines, intermediate level software distribution, and configuration of management tools

• Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences

• Time-efficient, organized & quality driven

• Ability to multi-task

• Ability to work well in a team environment

The Division of Information Technology (IT) supports OOD's mission by engaging with our partners to provide solutions that solve business needs. Our services include strategic planning, project management, business requirements gathering, development, quality assurance testing, help desk support, security, database design and implementation, systems support and operations.

Pay Information

Starting salary will be step 1, subject to law or union contract requirements. New hires advance to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. There are cost of living increases to these rates each year and additional longevity supplements begin after 5 years. The current wage progression for this position is in the table below.

Location Requirements

This position is required to be in office 5 days a week.

Daytime travel within Ohio is required. The selected candidate must provide own transportation or, in order to operate a state vehicle, must have a valid driver’s license.

Background Check

The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. Individuals selected for positions with Ohio's Disability Determination Service (DDS) will go through a complete federal background investigation. A suitability determination by the Social Security Administration is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to Social Security disability data, records, and systems. 36 months combined work experience in multiple areas of assigned responsibility (e.g., infrastructure, database administration, software development, business process analysis) including 12 months combined work experience as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

-completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems AND 12 combined work experience in multiple areas of assigned responsibility (e.g., infrastructure, database administration, software development, business process analysis) as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

OR

-equivalent education and/or experience per Minimum Class Qualifications noted above.
