PCU RN Job Details

Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Ohio healthcare job)

Unit: Surgical Step-Down / Progressive Care Unit

Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/13/2026)

Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Hours per Week: 36

Estimated Weekly Salary: $1940-$1990

Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics

Patient Ratios: 4-5 patients per nurse

Orientation: 24 hours

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or step-down RN experience

Active Registered Nurse license (compact or Ohio state RN license required at submission)

Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program

Current BLS and ACLS certifications

EPIC charting experience required

Telemetry test proficiency and experience monitoring telemetry patients

2 professional references (one from a manager/director or formal leadership)

Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

PCU RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to post-surgical, general medicine, and overflow patients in a progressive care setting

Monitor and interpret telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid response/code situations

Start and maintain IVs, administer medications, perform phlebotomy, and manage central/PICC lines

Educate patients and families on care plans and post-discharge instructions

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services

Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed

Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC electronic medical records
