CST Utilities provides underground construction services (excavation, drilling, etc.) for sites and projects related to water, sewer, natural gas, electric distribution, and telecommunications. With financial support from private equity investors, CST is pursuing a growth strategy that includes acquisitions (two companies acquired thus far) and investments aimed at enhancing capacity and capabilities. The company primarily operates in Ohio and Indiana.
Position Summary
The Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst (FP&A) will work directly with the VP of Finance, Business Management, and the CEO as a key resource to analyze, assess, forecast, report, and suggest actions regarding the Company’s key financial and operational data. The FP&A Analyst will support the monthly closing process, analyze results, report key trends, identify areas of improvement, and suggest management and business actions. The FP&A Analyst will support the annual planning process and report monthly against the annual plan. Finally, the FP&A Analyst will use analytical and visualization tools to help the information come alive for the organization. This role will be in the Columbus, OH headquarters.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Financial
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with a focus on variance analysis.
Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly business review and Board decks, including KPIs, which will be presented to executive leadership and the private equity firm.
Provide analysis, forecasting, trending, and reporting of financial and business-related data to Business Unit leaders
Conduct revenue & GP analysis by project, line of business, product type, and industry.
Assist with project-level analysis, including revenue, costs, and margin.
Provide M&A support to private equity and management during the diligence and integration process
Assist with the annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting processes
Analyze and report on capital expenditures.
Develop automated reporting and forecasting tools for more efficient use of data.
Design and prepare ad-hoc reports as requested by internal stakeholders and the private equity sponsor.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
ERP:
Become a SME (subject matter expert) of Accumatica and project mgmt. system and data to drive process improvements, improve data integrity, and provide better support for our internal customers.
Work in Progress (WIP) Reviews:
Analyze WIP-related entries for accuracy and completeness.
Analyze trends in overbilling/underbilling and their impact on AR, AP, and cash flow.
Participate in WIP review calls and maintain accurate backlog records.
Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related major is required; an MBA, related master’s degree, or CFA is a plus.
5+ years of experience in finance roles, preferably within the construction industry.
Proficiency across P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet; treasury knowledge a plus.
Strong proficiency with MS Office Tools, especially Excel.
Acumatica or similar ERP experience is a plus.
Ability to design and streamline reporting solutions using automation or data visualization. tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, and/or Tableau are a plus).
Ability to work independently on a wide variety of projects.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required. An MBA or CFA is a plus.
Two years of professional experience as an analyst, accountant, auditor, or computer programmer analyst OR a valid CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certificate with at least one year of professional experience as an accountant, auditor, or computer programmer analyst.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
