The company primarily operates in Ohio and Indiana.
Position Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the company's accounting functions, including financial reporting, project accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to work closely with project managers and senior management across the underground utility projects, including water, sewer, power, gas, and telecommunications.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Review and reconcile accounts monthly.
Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
Review and make (as necessary) accounting entries to ensure accuracy, particularly key journal entries.
Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
Analyze and process job-related costs in accordance with internal control policies.
Reconcile cash flow by monitoring collections and payments
Ensure compliance with GAAP, company polices, and regulatory requirements.
Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation.
Prepare monthly sales and use taxes for submission.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of contract billing, job cost accounting, and WIP reporting.
Proficiency with ERP or construction management software. Acumatica, HCSS, and Ramp preferred, but similar required.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job costing.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team approach.
Mentor and support junior accounting staff, guiding on complex accounting issues.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential data and information.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
CPA preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction or project-based industries.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
