The Cyber Security Apprenticeship Programme Assessment Centre: Thursday 12 February 2026 The Cyber Security Apprenticeship Programme within our CTO Function is a 12-month programme and offers an excellent grounding in the fundamental principles of cyber security in one of the UK’s largest wealth management organisations.
The Cyber Security Team at SJP is responsible for protecting the reputation and resilience of St.
James’s Place, to prevent significant malicious disruption to our business objectives and to ensure we remain within our security and resilience risk appetite whilst we move to become more digital.
The team ensures SJP can operate as a business by making systems secure, building relationships internally and with 3rd parties, maturing influence within SJP, feeding what we see and what we experience up to the Board and helping the direction that SJP takes to ensure clients information is kept safe.
Working in the Cyber Security team is challenging but rewarding.
As part of your apprenticeship programme, you will study for a Level 4 Cyber Security apprenticeship.
You will also advance your technical skills through a curriculum developed for our apprentices and delivered through our St James’s Place Technology and Data Academy.
This is a permanent vacancy and so upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship Programme you will continue your career within our Cyber Security team.
Key Responsibilities Attack Surface & Secure Development – security configuration; attack surface management; security testing Security Architecture & Engineering – security architecture / infrastructure; cloud security; application security; security compliance Security Operations – incident response; incident investigations; SOC (security operations Cat); alerts and monitoring Governance, Risk & Compliance – security risk management; security standards / policies; security training and awareness Monitoring and updating of tickets and emails assigned to Cyber Security.
Requirements of the Job: We are looking for someone with an interest of basic knowledge of cyber security, who is willing to learn and progress within the profession and undertake the apprenticeship qualification.
On track to complete or have attained A-levels (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area.
Computer Science study at A-Level (or equivalent) is desirable Minimum Level 5 in English Language and Mathematics at GCSE (or equivalent) Have a keen interest in Cyber Security and Technology Have foundational / fundamental knowledge of IT systems (e.g.
IP Addressing, Client and Server Communication) Interest in or knowledge of coding language such as Java or Python is desirable Great analytical skills.
Strong communication- written and verbal.
Self-motivated and interested in learning and taking on a challenge.
Have good analytical, writing and communication skills Be comfortable working independently and to take on responsibility for delivering a task Special Requirements: This role will be based full-time in our Cirencester office and you will be expected to be In the office a minimum of three days per week.
