**Description:**
**Position Purpose:**
+ Oncology Care specialists coordinate with clinic staff, nurse navigators, physicians and other health care professionals to provide critical support functions to assure a remarkable and efficient experience. Care Specialists, provide non- licensed support to clinic staff and oncology Nurse Navigators and act as a team to triage patient-specific information to coordinating care and accurately determine the nature of appointments necessary. Will independently schedule, obtain necessary insurance verification and authorizations and confirm patient appointments, including clear instructions to patients for a wide variety of services. Coordinates care and ensures the chart is complete prior to upcoming visits. Serves as lead to triage all phone calls coming into the oncology clinic. Also acts as a resource to any patient/family/physician calling for assistance. This position also includes direct patient care, rooming patients, vitals signs and phlebotomy.

+ Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00a - 4:30p ( no weekends and no holidays )
**What You Will Do:**
+ Functions as a liaison between the physician, patient, referring physicians, and members of the service line.
+ Communicates pertinent clinical information to appropriate members of the service line.
+ Prepare patients for appointments, providing information in a clear understandable manner.
+ Manages flow of patient new patient materials and ensures completeness of chart prior to visit
+ Collects complete and accurate financial and insurance information to performs accurate registration and insurance verification , obtaining required authorizations as indicated.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Education: Highschool Diploma or equivalent. Associates degree or some college courses preferred.
+ Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a medical or physician office or comparable healthcare environment required.
+ Demonstrated expertise in audit functions to include: data review/retrieval; error correction; documentation of data in a concise, understandable format; identification of trends; and recommendations of process/system improvements
