About the Animal Sciences Department - The Animal Sciences department at Colorado State University is a key department in the College of Agricultural Sciences.

The Department of Animal Sciences is responsible for educating approximately 850 undergraduate and 50 graduate students at any given time.

Research, teaching, and engagement opportunities for this position occur at the Animal Sciences building on the main college campus and at the Agricultural Research Development & Education Center (ARDEC Fort Collins). Position Summary Temporary part-time or full-time Postdoctoral Fellow positions may become available throughout the year with AgNext.

The ability to perform independent research related to the sustainability of beef and/or dairy cattle systems is required.

Such research will span a breadth of expertise.

Translating theoretical science into systems level impact and adoption is necessary for success.

PhD or DVM experience is required, including knowledge of concepts in experimental design and data analysis across livestock systems.

Organizational skills, personnel supervision, group coordination, experimental design, data analysis, and capabilities in producer outreach and engagement will be necessary.

Possible research focus areas include but are not limited to beef and dairy production systems, ruminant nutrition, grazing management (range and pasture), forage utilization, animal health, greenhouse gas measurement, economics, genetic selection, animal welfare and health, epidemiology, microbiome, life cycle assessment, and data science applications in animal agriculture.

Successful candidates will conduct independent and collaborative research to advance the sustainability, productivity, and resilience of livestock systems.

Responsibilities may include applied research design, data analysis, in-field project management, mentoring graduate students, engaging with stakeholders, and translating findings into practical applications that drive adoption and measurable impact.

Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

A Ph.D.

or DVM in a related field is required.

Required Job Qualifications * Completed PhD or DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited institution by start date of employment * Demonstrated success in publishing * Experience with data analysis * Experience with beef and/or dairy cattle systems and sustainability * Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license or access to a licensed driver by start date Preferred Job Qualifications * Publication record in peer reviewed journals * Experience in leading projects through to publication * Experience with project and team management
