SUMMARY:
Assists the cafeteria manager by helping to prepare and serve the lunch meals to the students each day. Reports to the Cafeteria Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A cafeteria assistant will:
Assist the cafeteria manager with preparing and serving lunch meals each day while observing safe work practices and food handling procedures
Ensure that food is served in a safe and sanitary environment
Prepare food according to standardized recipes and established food preparation procedures
Ensure the proper storage of food and supplies
Assist the cafeteria manager with cleaning of all dishes and surfaces following the lunch period
Attend in-service training to improve skills and knowledge of job expertise
Perform job activities in a timely and efficient manner
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect staff, students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Adhere to personal hygiene requirements
Assume responsibility for professional growth and keeps skills up-to-date
Comply with and supports school and division regulations and policies
Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to get along well with others
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Candidate must possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school. Experience and proficiency in quantity food service functions are preferred. Completion of Protecting God’s Children Class and satisfactory BCI/FBI background check required.
