General Description:

Waste Connections of Canada is currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven Senior Tax Analyst to join our team in Ajax, Ontario. This position offers the opportunity to be part of a world-class tax department with team members located in both The Woodlands, Texas and Ajax, Ontario. Our cross-border tax teams collaborate closely to support the comprehensive tax provision, compliance, audit, and strategic planning requirements of a large and sophisticated international organization.

As a Senior Tax Analyst with us the minimum responsibilities are:

Assist with the preparation of the quarterly tax provision under US GAAP

Preparation of federal and provincial income tax returns

Calculating monthly tax installments

Preparation of foreign reporting information returns for foreign affiliates

Assist with the preparation of the Globe Income Return

Preparation and filing of commodity tax returns

Assist with CRA and Provincial Revenue Agency notices

Prepare working papers to address various CRA / Provincial tax audit inquiries

Keep informed of tax laws, regulations, and rulings pertaining to international, federal, provincial and local taxes

Analyze and prepare internal memos and reports on the tax effects of business transactions

What We Need From You:

Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

CPA designation or Masters in Taxation is preferred

2 - 4 years experience working in a tax department of a public accounting firm or large corporation

Experience with large corporate or complex tax provision preferred

Completion or enrollment in the CPA In-Depth Tax Course is an asset

Team player with strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong computer skills in MS Office and TaxPrep tax software experience
