Job Objective: Assists patients in a timely, courteous, and professional manner. Will provide accurate information, schedule appointments, and assist with MLP (or physician) orders.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary Job Functions:
Room patients in clinic for up to 4 doctors. Rooming patients include taking vitals, reviewing health history, and reason for visit as well as turning over rooms between patients
occasional discharge for office patients, providing patients orders, scheduling them for procedures, subsequent visits, and providing them appropriate discharge paperwork
Orders protocol for physicians
Initiate capsule endoscopy visits, assist patients with swallowing pillcam and outfit them with proper recording equipment for the day, retrieving equipment at end of day when patient returns and download recordings
Receive tasks to scheduling capsule endoscopy patients
Daily reviews and has working knowledge of physician's schedules
Practice appropriate charting methods
Travel between offices is required Secondary Job Functions:
Assist Medical Secretaries, including reviewing/managing any mail/miscellaneous correspondence, patient charts, messages, scheduling by physician/MLP, orders, and any other responsibilities that need attention
Receptionist duties, as will back up receptionist when needed
Assist with physician/MLP recall appointments
Attend all office meetings and in services as required
Maintaining confidentially of patient, personal and financial information by utilizing HIPAA guidelines and regulations
Any other tasks as requested by the physician, executive director, human resource manager, and/or the office supervisor Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
Ability to handle a multi-line phone system
Ability to organize work material and/or charts to ensure accuracy of patient records
Ability to relate to all levels of patients, staff members as well as external providers and/or agencies
Neat appearance and professional demeanor and pleasant phone demeanor
Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including telephone communications, office systems, and record keeping
Knowledge of modern business communication, including style and format of letters, memoranda, minutes, and reports
Skill to use a personal computer and various software packages
Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with little supervision
Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems
Fluent in English Credentials & Experience:
Must have high school diploma or equivalent
Prefer 2 years' experience working in a medical environment.(office, clinical, or hospital) Special Requirements:
Willingness to learn new tasks, be cross-trained within the office, and be flexible with work load to help office flow
Flexibility in working hours willing to work occasional overtime Physical Demands:
Applies the principles of body mechanics in lifting or moving people, or equipment (occasional)
Must be able to independently lift 25 pounds (occasional)
Physical ability to retrieve and file records in a (6-7 shelf) file cabinet. (Frequent)
Must be able to sit (frequent), stand (frequent), walk (frequent), stoop (frequent), bend over (frequent), and type on keyboard (frequent)
Ability to communicate in person and by phone (frequent) Work Environment:
Medical office requiring some contact with adult patients
