POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Pickerington Local School District seeks qualified applicants for an Executive Director of Student Services. Candidates must have strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

JOB GOAL:

To provide leadership and coordination among various services and programs to address individual needs and provide for successful school experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university

Valid certificate/license as an administrator with preference given to those with successful administrative experience, or experiences deemed commensurate with roles and responsibilities

Minimum of seven years experience in education with a background in Special Education and/or Student Services

Successful experience in public schools preferred

Any additional qualifications, training or other credentials, as determined by the Board of Education REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Communication Skills: Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret information relevant to the position, including being able to speak effectively to small and large groups of people, and to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing

Leadership Ability: Must be able to articulate a vision and mission for the district and provide the appropriate direction, guidance, and management skills to achieve them.

Reasoning Ability: Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Technology Skills: Able to effectively use, as it applies to your specific job function, typical office applications and computer programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides vision, direction, and oversight for all student support services, including Special Education, Health Services, and other exceptional needs programming (e.g., 504s), ensuring high-quality services and educational stability for all students.

Ensures strict adherence to all federal, state, and local laws (IDEA, etc.) regarding eligibility, services, procedural safeguards, and confidentiality. This includes developing, implementing, and monitoring policies that maintain legal integrity across all programs.

Manages fiscal resources (budgets, grants), oversees staffing needs (recruitment, recommendations, and evaluation), coordinates external partnerships, and manages the operational infrastructure required to deliver effective services

Acts as the primary expert and liaison for special education and related services, consulting with district leadership, staff, parents, the Board, and community agencies to facilitate understanding, collaboration, and continuous program improvement.

Holds all confidential information in which they have knowledge in the truest confidence, as required by law, and utilizes confidential information obtained by he/she only for the benefit of the employee or student or in the performance of his/her job responsibilities
