The Media Relations intern will work closely with the Chicago White Sox media and public relations staff for the 2026 MLB season. They will assist in all facets of the department including but not limited to, media clips, minor-league report, credentials, stat packs, lineups, game notes, postgame notes, media guide and season in review. Additional tasks include setting up a backdrop for post-game press conference, assisting with press box operations, various research projects and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
Assist the media and public relations staff with the credentialing process, including distribution of gameday credentials at media will-call
Produce, copy and distribute media clips, stat packs, game notes, lineup sheet, minor-league report and other essential gameday documents to the media, staff and opposing club
Research, write and produce postgame notes for all 81 home games for distribution to the media and opposing team
Assist the media and public relations staff with press conferences and press box operations
Work with the visiting communications official to ensure the needs of the visiting club, media and staff are fulfilled
Assist in the production and editing of the 2026 media and season in review guides
Research, write and edit content for the Inside the White Sox blog, community and alumni newsletters, quarterly programs and other White Sox publications
Assist in the coordination of certain gameday elements at Rate Field (daily media, pregame media, batting practice, etc.) and serving as an escort to visitors and camera crews
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Sports Management, Journalism, or related field
Advanced knowledge of the game of baseball statistics and the current media landscape
Advanced knowledge of the Chicago White Sox preferred
Must be detail-oriented with excellent communication, organization, writing and editing skills
Willingness to work extended hours, including nights, weekends and some holidays
Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects on deadline.
Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel
Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is a plus
Ability to speak Spanish a plus
Base pay $18.00 per hour
