Communications Manager
Location: 3 days in the office in Basingstoke, 2 days from home
Role Summary
A leading pharmaceutical organisation is seeking a skilled and proactive Communications Senior Associate to join its Corporate Affairs team. This role supports both external and internal communications across the Northern European Hub, which includes the UK, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland.

The successful candidate will manage day-to-day press office operations and lead the development of internal communications strategies.
Key Responsibilities
External Communications (60%)
Oversee daily press office activities, including media monitoring, response coordination, and proactive outreach
Plan and execute strategic media initiatives tied to clinical trial data and regulatory milestones in cardiometabolic health, neuroscience, oncology, and immunology
Prepare senior leaders for external engagements and media interactions
Lead corporate social media campaigns, with a focus on LinkedIn
Maintain and update corporate content across external web platforms
Collaborate with European and global communications teams to ensure message alignment and support regional goals
Cultivate relationships with journalists, influencers, and key external stakeholders
Internal Communications (40%)
Develop and implement a strategic internal communications plan for the Northern European Hub
Create engaging content that highlights leadership and celebrates external achievements internally
Foster employee engagement through consistent, transparent, and inspiring messaging
Partner with HR and business unit leaders to support change communications and cultural initiatives
What You’ll Bring
Essential Attributes
3+ years of experience in Communications within the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology industry
Demonstrated success in media relations and strategic communications
Experience in designing and delivering communications or public affairs campaigns
Exceptional writing and storytelling skills tailored to diverse audiences
Ability to operate across multiple markets within a global, matrixed structure
Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical regulatory landscape
Background in journalism, communications, public policy, or political affairs
Experience in therapeutic areas such as neuroscience, oncology, immunology, or cardiometabolic health is a plus
Familiarity with healthcare and political environments in the UK and/or Nordic countries is a plus
Proficiency with AI tools (e.g., Copilot) and data analytics platforms
Previous experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech sector
