Position Overview The assistant Production Manager will play a key leadership role supporting daily manufacturing operations. This individual will work closely with the Production Manager to coordinate and supervise production activities including batching, packaging, boxing, and palletizing. This is a hands on leadership position requiring both management and active floor participation. The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish), detail oriented, proactive, and able to lead by example willing to roll up their sleeves and work side-by-side with their team when needed.
Key responsibilities team leadership & supervision. Supervise a production team of approximately 15–20 employees involved in mixing, packaging, boxing, and palletizing. Lead and motivate team members to achieve production goals efficiently and safely. Foster a positive work environment built on accountability, teamwork, and respect. Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to production employees. Step in to assist on the floor as needed to maintain workflow and production output.
Production planning & coordination. Assist the Production Manager in scheduling daily and weekly production runs. Coordinate incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods to ensure on time fulfillment. Maintain communication with the warehouse and logistics teams to support smooth product flow. Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure all products meet company standards for taste, consistency, and safety. Help plan and assign work schedules for production employees based on order volume and staffing needs.
Administrative & technical support. Utilize computer systems and spreadsheets to manage schedules, track production data, and prepare reports. Ensure production documentation and batch records are accurate and complete. Support process improvements and help identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies. Assist in maintaining compliance with safety and food manufacturing standards.
Work environment & physical requirements. Work is performed in a fast paced food production facility. Must be able to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work 12+hour shifts and adapt to changing production schedules as needed.
Qualifications bilingual in English and Spanish (required). Strong leadership, communication, and problem solving skills. Proven ability to motivate, train, and support team members. Hands on management style willing to work alongside employees when necessary. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and scheduling systems. Prior experience in food manufacturing, production supervision, or a similar environment preferred. Organized, reliable, and committed to maintaining quality and safety standards.
