Plans, develops, conceptualizes and implements programs, policies and procedures to attain the goals of the marketing/public relations program of the Ohio Expositions Commission (Ohio Expo Center & State Fairgrounds) to include Fair and non-fair marketing and public relations.

Responsible for communications with all local, state and national related associations, media and entities to promote and market year-round usage of the Ohio Expo Center.

Oversees all internal and external communications through promotional and written/collateral material.

Makes recommendations and measures effectiveness of public relations programs.

Responsible for presentation of marketing/public relations program to radio, news media, television and various other organizations.

Serves as liaison with contracted advertising companies and the agency in planning and implementing fair marketing and public relations budgets.

Provides technical advice and conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses to evaluate the success of all marketing and public relations efforts; conducts analyses of visitor demographics to direct agency planning; writes, types and edits publications, articles &/or newsletters; develops and implements crisis communication plans; provides oversight of website and social media.

Works with the Sales & Event Services Department to market and promote the Ohio Expo Center to prospective clients.

Develop, prepare, type, edit, perform layout work and distribute written and visual communication elements (e.g., news releases, publications, articles, group sales materials, newsletters, speeches, presentations, email blasts, talking points, backgrounders, social media posts, internal communications, brochures, pamphlets, fliers, programs, videos and associated scripts, etc.). Utilize desktop publishing or graphic design software programs to create images or aforementioned written and visual communication elements.

Strategically schedule and distribute such content on a timely basis throughout the year.

Write, upload, and maintain content and images for agency websites.

Respond to public and media inquiries, such as public records requests, media interview requests, social media inquiries, educational material requests, informational material requests, etc.

Coordinate the activities of the media and influencers for non-fair activities and during the Ohio State Fair.

Pitch stories, set up interviews, coordinate live broadcasts and oversee interns assisting with such efforts both prior to and during the Ohio State Fair.

Perform administrative tasks, such as issuing requests for proposal or quotation; creating and issuing correspondence, memos and set-up forms; etc.

Coordinates arrangements for media events, as well as public speaking opportunities with members of the Ohio Expo Center & State Fairgrounds staff.

Work on agency-wide initiatives as needed (e.g., Combined Charitable Campaign, Operation Feed, etc.). Responsible for the business function of the Marketing, Public Relations and Visual Communications office.

Prepares and administers budgets, maintains fiscal controls, authorizes department expenditures.

Responsible for interviews, selection, supervision and responses to all correspondence in marketing and public relations matters and four to five seasonal staff.

Monitor fiscal records of department's budget, including the review and verification of incoming invoices.
