Vitalant is hiring a Genetic Counselor to join our Coagulation Laboratory Genomics Team to establish germ line genetic test offerings for bleeding and clotting disorders. This is an exciting and new division for our laboratory with opportunity to play a major role in the growth and development of our genomics laboratory.

Recognition and perks As a Genetic Counselor, you'll get to:
Explain complex diagnostic and screening tests, reproductive options, risks, benefits and limitations of genetic testing in clear and compassionate language.
Coordinate, interpret, and review genetic test results (including next generation sequencing, Sanger sequencing, PCR-based methods, and DNA fragment analysis), in collaboration with laboratory staff and providers.
Provide pre-analytical support to providers by advising on appropriate test selection based on clinical indications. #LABSTF
Requirements
Masters or PHD in Human Genetics or Genetic Counseling from an ABGC or ABMG accredited program required.
Board certification or eligibility through the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) required. Must be successfully certified within 2 years of completing degree. Must be eligible to apply for a temporary provisional genetic counselor license within applicable state and must obtain full license with reasonable time frame of board certification.
Three years of experience in a clinical or laboratory setting preferred.
Experience with variant interpretation, laboratory reporting, and/or working in a CAP accredited lab preferred.
Experience counseling healthcare providers preferred.
