About the Role

Babcock is seeking a highly skilled and trusted Security professional to take on the critical role of Security Lead – (COMSECO), as designated by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD). This is a unique opportunity to lead the organisation’s COMSEC and high-security operations, ensuring the integrity and protection of sensitive cryptographic materials across our defence programs.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining COMSEC Security Practices and Procedures in line with ACSI standards, managing access controls, coordinating with CASG for secure equipment procurement, and leading briefings and debriefings for personnel with cryptographic access. You’ll also oversee reporting, compliance, and physical safeguards to ensure strict adherence to national security protocols.

Beyond COMSEC, you’ll play a key role in broader high-security initiatives including EMSEC, physical security planning, and supporting bid development and execution. You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders, contribute to continuous improvement, and help foster a culture of safety and security across the organisation.

To be successful, you will bring:

Australian Citizen with a current Defence Security Clearance.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Defence Industry Security environment.

Completed the Defence COMSEC Accounting Course (DCAC) or able to do so upon commencement.

Previous experience as a COMSECO or working within a high security environment.

Previous COMSEC Experience or relevant Military Experience.

Familiar with Australian Communication Security Instructions (ACSIs).

Experience in obtaining physical security certifications and accreditations.

Experience in working with Commonwealth customer.
