Role:

Northwood Space is seeking an FPGA Engineer Intern for Summer 2026 to join our team in Torrance, CA. As an intern, you'll support the design, development, and testing of FPGA blocks for our antenna systems, contributing to reliable communication links for our customers. This role provides hands-on experience in digital design, data transport, and signal processing, with opportunities to work closely with engineers across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and test networking and DSP blocks on FPGAs for high-rate data processing

Support system-level design of FPGA-firmware interfaces

Participate in creating system architectures, analyzing trade-offs, and defining system requirements

Collaborate with antenna, RF, electrical, and firmware engineers to advance product development from initial design and prototyping to testing and operations

Analyze performance data from testing to identify issues and contribute ideas for product improvements Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field

Familiarity with Verilog or SystemVerilog

Basic understanding of Python for scripting and data analysis

Interest in FPGA-based DSP or networking applications

Capable of using electrical lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, to debug FPGA designs

Compensation and Benefits:

Northwood Summer 2026 Internships are based in Torrance, CA and 12 weeks in length (June 1 - August 21 or June 15 - September 4). We offer an hourly rate between $30-$34/hr based on discipline and graduating year. We also have a $4,000 housing stipend and lunch/dinner catered daily.
