Job Title: Data Engineer
Location: Columbus, OH (Onsite Preferred)
Contract: 6-Month Contract with Potential for Extension
Schedule: Monday – Friday 1st Shift
Compensation: $85 – $110 per hour (Optional Benefits Available)
Position Overview
HRU Technical Resources is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to design and implement scalable data solutions that support advanced AI and analytics initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Azure DataBricks, medallion architecture, and a strong understanding of modern data engineering best practices.
This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge data infrastructure projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build efficient, reliable, and high-performance data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure DataBricks.
Implement and optimize the medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold layers) to support AI/ML use cases.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to define and deliver on data requirements.
Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across all architecture layers.
Automate data ingestion, transformation, and enrichment processes.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows for performance and reliability.
Document processes and contribute to continuous improvement of data engineering practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience with Azure DataBricks and medallion architecture.
Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and Apache Spark.
Experience preparing data for AI/ML models (feature engineering, data normalization, etc.).
Familiarity with Delta Lake, Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Factory.
Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance principles.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with MLflow, Unity Catalog, or other MLOps tools.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and data engineering automation.
Familiarity with real-time data processing and streaming architectures.
