Communications And Public Relations Officer

The successful candidate will form part of the Conservation, Education and Communications team and will contribute to promoting the objectives of SAAMBR.

The responsibilities will include:

Promoting SAAMBR’s mission of marine conservation in an engaging manner.

Ensuring positive public engagement, strong stakeholder relationships, and a trusted corporate reputation.

Driving internal and external communications, marketing, and PR activities across all channels.

Being the custodian of the SAAMBR brand’s identity and integrity, and serving as SAAMBR’s primary media liaison.

The following will be required of the successful applicant:

A tertiary qualification, preferably in communications and marketing.

At least three years’ experience in public relations, media engagement and communication.

Proficiency in Adobe Creative suite and in web design (WordPress and applications).

Experience in an animal care facility or conservation-based organisation will be advantageous.

Photography and videography skills will be advantageous.

Exhibit enthusiasm and level-headedness.

Good time-management skills.

Ability to co-ordinate a range of complex tasks and projects with multiple goals.

Ability to seek quotes and process orders within an approved budget.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Ability to work under pressure.

General knowledge of marine environment would be an advantage.
