AI & Data - Senior Data Modeler
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Consultant Data Modeler with a strong background in delivering data models that satisfy business requirements. The ideal candidate should possess excellent client management and communication skills, demonstrating a proven ability for successful data engineering implementations.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will design and create analytics solutions that add substantial business value. Collaborate with data and analytics professionals, management, and stakeholders to ensure alignment between technical requirements and business needs. Your key responsibilities will include developing scalable data models and solutions throughout the entire data asset lifecycle.
Your Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and creation of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), utilizing the Kimball dimensional methodology, which is essential for this position.
Design and implement star schemas (Fact and Dimension tables) to fulfill enterprise analytical, Business Intelligence (BI), and reporting needs with optimized performance.
Define and model Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), focusing on SCD Type 2, to accurately track and maintain the historical context of dimension attributes.
Collaboratively establish the appropriate grain for fact tables and identify measurable facts and their relationships with the corresponding dimension tables.
Design denormalized dimension structures to streamline querying for end-users and analytical tools.
Work closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and establish data models that meet business objectives.
Create and oversee data dictionaries and metadata repositories to ensure data model consistency and integrity.
Identify and troubleshoot data model performance issues to optimize database functionality.
Manage and mentor a small team of 1-3 members.
Document and explain data model designs and standards to promote understanding and compliance across the organization.
Develop comprehensive source-to-target mapping (STM) documentation and data transformation specifications for ETL/ELT processes.
Stay informed about industry best practices and trends in data modeling to incorporate advanced techniques into our processes.
Lead the team in implementing data modeling principles such as Kimball’s dimensional modeling.
Utilize industry-standard data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, PowerDesigner, ER/Studio) to produce and maintain data models and manage version control effectively.
To Qualify for the Role, You Must Have
A Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
Over 7 years of hands-on experience in data modeling.
Strong command of SQL along with data modeling concepts, especially Kimball dimensional modeling.
Experience with major enterprise relational database platforms or cloud data warehouses (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).
Deep understanding of data warehousing principles, ETL/ELT architecture, data quality management, and metadata management.
Expertise in implementing SCD Type 2 (SCD2) for historical data preservation using surrogate keys, effective dates, and active flags; familiarity with other SCD types is ideal.
The ability to decode complex business processes and translate them into precise technical data models.
Proficiency in data modeling tools like Erwin / Visio or PowerDesigner.
Experience in designing and implementing effective database structures.
Capability to create and sustain conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Knowledge of best practices in data modeling and database design.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze data needs.
Experience in performance tuning and optimizing database queries.
Cloud certification is a plus.
Sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Experience in the Hospitality Domain is required.
Ideally, You Will Also Have
A proven ability to navigate complex challenges and make informed decisions.
Experience in supervising and mentoring junior colleagues.
Participation in sales opportunities and responses to RFPs.
Knowledge of cloud technologies, particularly Azure DP-203 certification.
A drive for innovation and applying emerging technologies to tackle real-world challenges.
Proficiency in Spanish and/or Italian.

We provide a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you will be rewarded based on your performance, recognizing the value you bring to our organization. The base salary range for this position in the US is $106,900 to $176,500, with higher ranges in select metropolitan areas such as New York City, Washington State, and California.
