ThePrince George's County Office of the Sheriff is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill aCommunity Developer Iposition, grade G18, in the Community Partnership Division.
This is a temporary position that is limited to a maximum of 1000 working hours.
This position does not offer benefits.
About the Position This is entry level professional work in the areas of community liaison/development/advocacy or social services work among client populations (e.g., youth, aged, community action, housing development, health, etc.). Incumbent participates in the collection, analysis, and summarization of data relating to the administration of the program.
Work is performed under close supervision of a higher-level Community Developer or other supervisory position.
Work performance is evaluated in terms of accuracy and compliance with established guidelines and procedures.
This position may support the following programs: About the Agency The Prince George's County Office of the Sheriff has been a vital link in the criminal justice system for more than 300 years, providing the citizens of Prince George's County with professional, transparent, and effective law enforcement service.
The Office of the Sheriff serves as the law enforcement arm of the courts, responding to domestic violence calls, processing warrants, civil papers, domestic violence peace and protective orders, Emergency Psychiatric Petition (E.P.S.) orders, and the execution of evictions.
The Office of the Sheriff is also responsible for court security, providing security and protection for visitors to our courthouses and securing courtrooms and holding areas.
Deputies transport prisoners and are responsible for extraditing fugitives from other states.
Examples of Work * Performs less complex entry-level assignments.
* Assists in the development of capital and operational plans for a large variety of social, economic and health related programs.
* Participates as a member of a community development research and planning team involving in collecting, analyzing and summarizing aggregates of data relating to such programs as housing, education, economic, aging, youth services, health services, etc.
* Serve as Community Outreach Administrative support.
* Serve as Unit Administrative support.
* Assist in managing specialized volunteer activities.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications listed below to be eligible for additional consideration: * Bachelor's Degree with major course work in business or public administration, social service, sociology, psychology, or other fields * Responsible work experience which includes coordination of group activities, preferably including work with disadvantaged individuals * Valid driver's license An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: * Possess one (1) year or more of experience working in the field of sociology, community planning, community development, and/or public administration.
