Assurance Section Manager
Would you like to be responsible for the quality and timely delivery of Combat / Weapon Engineering Assurance Activities to projects whilst collaborating with UK Customers, partners and suppliers including Navy Command HQ, Surface Flotilla and MOD DE&S. We currently have a vacancy for an Assurance Section Manager our site in Portsmouth.
As an Assurance Section Manager, you will:
· Manage, co-ordinate and provide technical guidance on Platform Assurance related activities across all classes of RN warship within the Weapon engineering and Combat System divisions.
· Conducting and overseeing the progressive inspections of mechanical/ electrical systems and equipment ensuring that the contracted work is completed iaw the defined standard and.
· Authorising and validating assurance documentation for Combat Systems and Equipment including Test Forms and Technical Engineering Reports, ensuring that they are accurate and completed in a timely and efficient manner.
· Direct liaison with internal and external organisations and authorities to determine the assurance requirements for, Ships Staff, WTA, SCA, MCTA for every aspect of Assurance relating to BAE Systems projects.
· Ensure all work meets Quality Procedures and Product Safety standards.
· Coordinating and oversight of Combat System and equipment assurance activities.
· Generation, validation of technical documentation and reports, including Test Forms and Technical Inspection Reports.
· Provide assurance that all work conducted on Combat systems is correct iaw defined specifications and ready in all respects for acceptance by the customer prior to presentation.
· Provide best practice & guidance to the Project’s Team, COM, WTA, SS & wider customer community and other external authorities on all matters related to the assurance of WE Systems
· Assist in the implimentation of Testing and Trials procedures, ensuring that scope is sufficient to satisfy the contract.
· Act as the primary POC for customers, outside authorities and peers for all technical issues and challenges related to Inspection test and Trials.
· Provide information and technical advice to assist with the generation, estimation and compilation of the Trial Output Matrix (TOM) to enable the timelines to be coherent for the work package schedules.
· Apply knowledge, skill and experience to resolve issues associated with the design and outfitting of Weapon Engineering equipment and systems.
Your skills and qualifications:
· Understanding of Asset Management and wider Warship Support business goals.
· Knowledge of the defence maritime industry, especially the MoD Maritime structure, departments and the Common Support Model.
· Knowledge of key company and MoD processes.
Essential:
· HNC/HND in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
· Requires detailed technical knowledge and broad experience of Weapon and Combat Systems, as fitted to RN Warships, and factors that may affect their performance.
· Previous experience of managing and conducting Engineering Test and Trials on RN Warships.
· Requires a broad understanding of the principles of assurance and acceptance processes in use in BAE Systems and of Product Safety engineering practices.
