Position Overview
The Plant Manager is accountable for the overall performance of the manufacturing site, and responsible for providing leadership to enable the site teams to execute operations strategy to meet the needs of the business and customers. This involves leveraging knowledge of industry best practices, driving continuous improvement, orchestrating change management, financial analysis/management and collaborating cross-functionally (e.g., Business, R&D, legal, Procurement) to identify and remove barriers to site and business performance and profitability, and enable a best-in-class service experience for customers. The successful candidate must be familiar with High Hazard processes and robust Process Safety Management systems.
Key Responsibilities
Manages overall operation and all aspects of a large manufacturing facility including production, maintenance, technology, and other manufacturing units/functions
Responsible for safety, environmental, security, quality control, accounting, distribution, human resources and spending activities
Ensures compliance with policies, procedures and safety standards
Foster a culture where people are engaged, thriving, and delivering to their full capability with a high degree of ownership
Deliver on a complex budget with multiple production areas and tenants
Champions continuous improvement through Lean Six Sigma methodologies and drives year-over-year improvements in safety, quality, efficiency, capacity and cost to meet the needs of the customers and the business
Sets expectations and work environment standards necessary for successful operation.
Ensures appropriate personnel planning, staffing, and performance management and develops talent to enable successful continuity of Site performance
Training on and implementing key Lean manufacturing principles including Visual Management, structured problem solving, inventory management, and overall process improvement Education and Experience
Degree in an Engineering discipline required (Chemical Engineering preferred)
15+ years of experience in operations with leadership experience in a global manufacturing organization with high hazard processes
Demonstrated ability to lead in a fast-paced environment built upon a Lean operating philosophy
Must have management experience with batch and continuous processes and leading critical functions within operations (ex. EHS, production, maintenance, continuous improvement, technical and supply chain)
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and matrixed organization
Exceptional communication skills at all levels of the organization
Demonstrated understanding and commitment to EHS development and compliance
Ability to translate business direction to organizational actions through inspiring team and personal goals at all levels of the organization
Experience with high hazard process operations and process safety management Compensation
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. It will include a base salary and an annual performance bonus, long term incentives, and other benefits and perquisites.
