Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Tax Reporting Specialist III to join our team in Columbus, Ohio. In this long-term contract position, you will leverage your expertise in payroll tax practices to investigate and resolve complex tax issues while ensuring compliance with regulations. This role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, managing year-end tax processes, and leading process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and reconcile complex payroll tax returns quarterly, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.
• Investigate and resolve payroll tax issues, providing clear communication to stakeholders and tax authorities.
• Lead tax-related projects, including research, analysis, system updates, and process documentation, while providing training to team members.
• Oversee year-end processes, including the generation of W-2 forms and updating year-end tax tables in PeopleSoft.
• Recommend and implement approved process improvements to optimize payroll tax operations.
• Monitor changes in payroll tax regulations and assess their impact on company practices.
• Maintain strong relationships with external vendors to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and policies.
• Provide support and guidance for internal audits and compliance reviews.• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 4 years of multi-state/local tax experience and 1 year of customer service experience, or an associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management with 3 years of multi-state/local tax experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of payroll tax laws at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Advanced proficiency in PeopleSoft payroll tax application software, Microsoft Excel, and other Office tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on customer service.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proven organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines efficiently.
• Experience with process improvements and implementation of new procedures.
• Ability to conduct thorough research and analyze tax regulations for compliance.
