We are seeking volunteers to assist our Digital Coach in delivering digital literacy classes to senior residents. Volunteers will play a key role in helping older adults become more confident, safe, and included in today’s digital world by supporting one-on-one learning, setting up devices, and reinforcing key class topics. The buildings are in the Columbus area, Franklin County. This role is simply to support our Digital Coach and doesn’t require any additional training or time outside of the class
Key Responsibilities:
Assist residents in using iPads and navigating basic device functions
Help residents set up iPads, including creating an Apple ID/account
Support the Digital Coach by working with residents who may need extra time or hands-on guidance
Help explain or reinforce digital safety topics such as:
Identifying scams and phishing attempts
Online privacy and password protection
General internet and email safety
Assist with the completion of pre-and post-surveys to measure learning progress
Guide residents through using basic Google platforms
Help residents safely download and use helpful apps
Promote digital skills that support independence, such as:
Online rent payment
Telehealth access
Communicating with friends and family online
Time Commitment:
Classes are 3 consecutive days and the required time is 10:00AM-1:00 PM. Please note you can do one shift or as many as you’d like to, we’d love to have you.
