POSITION SCOPE

Do you want to make a difference in your community? The City of Eau Claire is accepting applications for a volunteer specialized recreation activity assistant and park ambassadors. Must work well with children and be a mature adult. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the online application. Please note that criminal background checks are conducted on all volunteer coaches.

COACHES AGREEMENT & HEAD INURY INFORMATION

You must and read the Coaches Concussion and Head Injury Information prior to applying.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

Position: Specialized Recreation Activity Assistant

Hours/Week: 2-3 hours/week

Days Available: Wednesday Evenings (September-April)

Salary: Volunteer

Application Review Begins August 15

Description: Mature individual who enjoys assisting individuals with disabilities during our Par-te-Rec Program. Activity Assistants are responsible for directly assisting participants with crafts or other activities, distribution of snacks, facility set up, and facility tear down. Activity assistants are also encouraged to socialize with the participants during Par-te-Rec.

Position: Park Ambassadors - McDonough Park

Hours/Week: 2-3 hours/week

Days Available: Varied.

Salary: Volunteer

Description: Join your friends and neighbors in the McDonough Park Ambassador program. Park Ambassadors open secured recreation equipment for public use, teach/coordinate game play of the different activities in the park, provide assistance and information to residents and visitors, and report park concerns as appropriate to department staff.

Volunteer groups are welcome to "drop in". Volunteers who plan to assist on a regular basis must complete an online application and undergo a criminal background check.

Position: Flag Football Coach (CLOSED)

Hours/Week: 2 (evenings)

Days Required: Tuesday, Thursday, and some Sundays

Salary: Volunteer

Description: Above average football knowledge and skills. 2-4 years instructing or coaching youth football preferred.

Coaches Agreement:I have read the Coaches Concussion and Head Injury Information and understand what a concussion is and how it may be caused. I also understand what the signs, symptoms, and behaviors are and agree to remove the athlete from practice/play if exhibited and/or a concussion is suspected.I understand that it is my responsibility to inform the parents/guardian if I suspect a concussion or if a suspected concussion is reported to me and that the athlete cannot return to practice or play before providing me with written clearance from an appropriate health care provider.I understand the possible consequences of the athlete returning to practice/play too soon.
