Data Center Design Manager, Engineering

We are looking for a Senior Regional Design Manager to contribute to the design leadership and innovation within our data centers. In this role, you will work alongside a diverse group of Architects, Engineers, and external resources, driving design excellence and improving delivery processes. Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality, consistent data center designs on schedule and within budget.

Influence stakeholders and consultants to implement design changes effectively across programs.

Manage escalations within the design team and collaborate with procurement and construction professionals.

Identify and resolve cross-disciplinary design issues to drive effective solutions.

Oversee the entire design lifecycle, including development, change management, and implementation.

Utilize project management skills for effective schedule, risk, quality, and cost management.

Manage relationships with design consultants from procurement to deliverable management.

Communicate project metrics and progress effectively to AWS leadership and external partners.

Innovate solutions to minimize contract change orders without compromising quality.

Prioritize tasks and create frameworks to resolve competing priorities in ambiguous situations.

Enhance speed, quality, and process simplification by sharing best practices and standardizing procedures.

Create global best-practice documentation for dissemination across the organization.

Motivate team members to achieve exceptional quality in a fast-paced environment.

Travel for site assessments, design meetings, and construction reviews, with anticipated travel not exceeding 25%, including potential international trips. Basic Qualifications:

6+ years of experience managing staff, consultants, and vendors; 6+ years in design for complex commercial or industrial projects.

7+ years of experience in large-scale Mission Critical facility design; 5+ years leading project teams.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, or related fields. Preferred Qualifications:

Professional Engineering or Architecture License.

3+ years of large-scale Data Center facility design experience.

10+ years of relevant experience in data center design, construction, operations, or maintenance.

Strong communication skills for conveying technical issues to non-engineers and senior leadership.

Experience negotiating with regulatory agencies regarding building codes and construction changes.

The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600 to $212,800 per year, depending on market location and candidate experience. In addition to base pay, a comprehensive benefits package is offered.
