We are seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator to join a high-impact technology initiative supporting a major healthcare information system modernization effort for a state agency. Key Responsibilities

Provide senior-level Microsoft SQL database administration and technical support for enterprise-scale web-based applications.

Advise development and product teams on data model design, optimization, and extension.

Perform hands-on SQL development and application support, ensuring adherence to Microsoft best practices.

Collaborate with Oracle and IDMS DBA teams to maintain development, test, staging, and production databases.

Develop and execute data migration strategies from existing data stores.

Analyze and tune database performance, identify issues, and implement optimized solutions.

Coordinate with vendors, partners, and other government entities as part of the project ecosystem.

Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and contribute to operational readiness documentation. Required Qualifications

Must

Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA supporting enterprise applications in Linux and/or Windows environments.

Expertise in SQL Server Data Guard, database performance tuning, and data migration.

Strong understanding of database scalability, security, and operational procedures.

Hands-on experience supporting development teams implementing web-based solutions.

Solid project planning and estimation skills.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to senior management.

Strong analytical thinking, integrity, and the ability to make informed decisions in high-visibility settings. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager and hybrid database environments.

Background in healthcare IT, particularly managing PHI/PII data.

Knowledge of Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) and Medicaid operations.

Experience with data encryption and secure transmission.

Previous experience in the public sector or government projects. Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field required.

Master's degree preferred.

Relevant SQL certifications or advanced training beneficial.
