Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Analytics, the Power BI Developer designs, develops, and maintains SQL code, data models, pipelines, and reports to support institutional reporting and decision-making. This role leverages tools such as Azure, SQL, Power BI, and related ETL technologies to deliver accurate and efficient business intelligence solutions.
The position may require occasional evening, weekend, or holiday hours.
Essential Functions
Builds and maintains scalable Power BI and Azure data models to support ongoing business needs.
Develops and optimizes SQL queries, dashboards, and dataflows.
Designs and maintains ETL pipelines that integrate data from Ellucian Banner and other systems.
Ensures integration of on-prem and cloud data sources.
Delivers end-to-end BI solutions from requirements through deployment.
Collaborates with stakeholders on reporting needs, governance, and compliance.
Documents processes, data models, and reports for reuse and maintenance.
Ensures deliverables meet expectations and are consistent with IT standards.

Works independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions.
Maintains strong attention to data governance, data security, and compliance with standards such as HIPAA, FERPA, related regulations, and data classifications.
Stays abreast of updates to technologies used by the department to ensure adherence to best practices and effective use of the latest innovations.
Communicates status, progress, and impact to team members and management.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of Power BI development and data visualization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
Strong skills in SQL, DAX, Power Query (M), and ETL.
Solid knowledge of dimensional modeling (facts/dimensions).
Experience with Azure Synapse, Data Factory, or other cloud platforms.
Proven ability to optimize Power BI reports for performance.
Familiarity with Agile methods and project tracking tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Ellucian Banner or higher-ed systems; SIS, Finance, HR, and Academic data.
Knowledge of Python.
Knowledge of Snowflake.
Familiarity with AI/ML analytics for student success and retention.
