Position Summary: Responsible for assembling, fitting, and fabricating piping systems in a controlled shop environment to support construction projects. This role involves interpreting blueprints and isometric drawings, cutting and preparing pipe, performing layout, and assembling components to meet project specifications. The Pipefitter works closely with welders, fabricators, and supervisors to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with safety standards.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications for piping systems.
Measure and verify pipe cut lengths per blueprints.
Perform layout and fit-up of piping assemblies in the shop.
Work with welders to position and secure pipes for welding.
Conduct quality checks on fabricated piping assemblies to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Operate hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and pipe fabrication machinery.
Assist with material handling, loading/unloading, and organizing shop inventory.
Maintain safe and clean working conditions in accordance with company policies.
Follow all OSHA and company safety guidelines.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Fabrication Shop Foreman or Supervisor.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
2+ years of pipefitting experience in fabrication or construction (preferred).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and specifications.
Knowledge of various piping materials (carbon steel, stainless steel).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a shop environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Ability to pass MIG positioner rollout certification on 2" sch80 weld test.
Job Skills:
Proficiency in pipe layout, measuring, and fitting techniques.
Strong understanding of fabrication and construction safety practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Effective communication and organizational skills.Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; trade/vocational training preferred.
Special Requirements:
OSHA 10
Ability to stand for long periods.
Physical Requirements:
Eyesight correctable to 20/50.
Able to work long hours on feet.
Able to lift and climb ladders and scaffolds.
Able to perform shift work.
Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 60lbs.
Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Must not be afraid of heights.
Special Requirements:
Valid Driver's License.
OSHA 10 certified.
