We’re looking for an Electrician Apprentice Intern for the summer of 2026 that is serious about a career in manufacturing. The Opportunity

As an Electrician Apprentice Intern, you’ll work closely with our Electrical & Controls Supervisor and other members of our maintenance, electrical, and controls teams.

Daily Duties and Responsibilities:

Care for and repair all electrically powered/monitored devices and equipment within an industrial processing setting. This includes:

Work order execution

New installations (conduit and wiring)

Motor/device testing

Controls I/O testing

Field troubleshooting

Replacement of failed devices and equipment

Preventative work orders

Continuous adherence to safety and food safety best practices

Report, communicate, and collaborate with supervisors, managers, and peer departments

Attend coaching, teaching, and learning sessions with plant subject matter experts on:

Automation

PLC's

Medium voltage distribution

Arc-flash safety

Food Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

Industrial safety

Electrical code

Low voltage controls (4-20mA)

Plant networks

Unique Projects:

Major equipment installs and project work responsibilities (planning, procuring, layout, and execution of new electrical power and data distribution panels, cabling, wiring and conduit)

Equipment commissioning

What You’ll Need to Be Successful at KLN Family Brands/Tuffy’s Pet Foods:

At least a second-year student pursuing an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology or a Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

The ability to dedicate 10-12 weeks to the internship program for the summer of 2026

A positive attitude and willingness to learn

The ability to work in a team atmosphere and be a great co-worker

The ability to work on-site at our Perham, MN facility for the summer

Interns who demonstrate exceptional performance and a passion for our business may have the opportunity for full-time employment upon graduation.

Pay for this position will be a percentage of industry standards based on typical full-time starting salaries and will depend on your year in school and your timeline to graduation.
