Major Duties

Configures assigned intrusion detection system to minimize false positives and correlates data from multiple sources in order to obtain as complete and accurate a picture as possible of the nature and magnitude of the threat to DLA

Executes appropriate courses of remedial action based on analysis of malicious cyber activity

Coordinates activities intended to resolve or mitigate damage associated with security incidents and emerging security events, threats or intrusions...

... using all available Computer Network Defense tools to determine the scop and magnitude of malicious activity

Acts to maintain and/or restore operations, while at the same time safeguarding evidence for possible use in criminal or administrative actions

Preforms computer forensics using analytical and investigative techniques to identify, collect, and examine and preserve evidence/information which is magnetically stored or encoded, utilizing manual methods an advanced forensic tools

Qualification Summary

To qualify for an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), your qualifications must include: A. One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Identifies, discovers, and recovers files from a variety of systems, including but not limited to Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and UNIX Prepares, distributes and escalates in a time-sensitive manner incident reports and presentations in accordance with DLA and DoD Policy Monitors and analyzes data, network logs, and alters captured by intrusion detection systems, the host based security system, firewalls, and other sensors and enterprise logs, in order to detect, categorize, assess, report, and respond to computer and network security incidents Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Compensation:

$88,621-$120,222 per year
