Overview
Cloud Data Architect at Ford Motor Company within the Global Data Insights & Analytics team. The role enables delivery of a modern enterprise data platform and addresses complex data challenges to turn information into actionable insights for leaders and decision-makers.
This position supports Ford's most visible initiatives and helps define the strategy for organizing enterprise data, designing novel solutions, and advancing data-driven decision making across the organization.
Responsibilities
Refine and manage a data architecture roadmap in partnership with the Data Product Management Team.
Leverage GCP services like Cloud Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and BigQuery to build reliable and efficient data pipelines.
Own the conceptual model for a data domain inside the central data platform. Develop and maintain data schemas and models for products within that framework. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and quality across multiple data assets.
Learn, know, and understand Fords enterprise data assets.
Think creatively about new ways to use the data in our environments to progress the goals of our business.
Perform performance tuning and optimization: identify bottlenecks and optimize the performance of data pipelines to meet business requirements.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in streaming data: continuously learn and adopt new technologies and approaches to keep our data architecture at the forefront of the industry.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in a related field or work experience equivalent.
6+ years of experience as a Data Architect or similar role with a strong focus on structured and unstructured data.
Experience in Cloud (GCP, AWS, etc.), SQL and NoSQL databases, Java, Hadoop, Python, Spark, Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and Data Marts (preferred).
Strong understanding of distributed systems, data processing frameworks, and data warehousing concepts.
Expert in SQL for querying and manipulating data.
Experience with Python for data processing, scripting, and automation.
Experience with data modeling, data governance, and data quality best practices.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to transfer knowledge to others.
Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
Expertise in GCP data services like Cloud Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, and related technologies (preferred).
