Located at the School of Chemistry, Camperdown Campus Sydney

Base Salary Level A, $109,263- $121,054 p.a. + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The School of Chemistry is currently seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research in Protein Synthesis to conduct research under the joint supervision of Professor Richard Payne

The research focused academic will contribute to advancing the faculty’s research agenda through independent and collaborative research activities. the role involves applying subject matter expertise to deliver high-quality research outcomes, supporting project goals, and contributing to the development of the discipline. working under broad supervision, the incumbent will plan and prioritise tasks, provide expert advice within their area, and collaborate with colleagues to achieve research objectives.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

work closely with academic staff, researchers, and students within the discipline and broader faculty

conduct research and scholarly activity independently or as part of a collaborative team

develop and refine independent research skills under guidance from senior academics

provide informal mentoring and support to students within the discipline

contribute to administrative tasks and participate in school or faculty meetings

support a positive and inclusive workplace culture aligned with the university’s strategic goals.

The School of Chemistry at the University of Sydney is a leading Chemistry department in the country, with outstanding staff and students undertaking world-leading teaching and research. Our more than 30 academic staff, 100 research staff, and 100 research students conduct research across the full spectrum of pure and applied chemistry. About you

a PhD degree in protein chemistry

experience in peptide synthesis and protein synthesis using chemical ligation methods

experience conducting original research and contributing to scholarly publications in the area of peptide and protein science

experience developing and maintaining academic, industry, or professional partnerships

a developing research profile with potential for independent or collaborative projects

proficiency in research design, data analysis, and the use of digital research tools.
